We’ve seen it so many times in the past. The unscrupulous hijacking a saintly figure to smuggle in their evil. I wonder if these evildoers actually believe in Hell?

Most of the worst people in the Church today seem very definitely NOT to believe in hell. I'm afraid they're in for a nasty surprise, because it's not like Our Lord could have spoken any more clearly than He did on the subject...

Although the photos of the Cristero masses were black and white and thus colors couldn't be seen, it appears that the vestments worn by the priests (and servers) were of the "nice" variety. Such a contrast to too many of today's ideological sacks for presiders or what rebels like the Liberation Theologians, Dan Berrigan, etc. wore.
