Dr K, I wish you great success on this project and just signed up for the annual premium level.
It would be much appreciated if there were a daily bible reading app with traditional exegesis. Perhaps quoting Church Fathers. I have been listening to Fr Mike Schmitz, Bible in a Year, for five years. While I appreciate what he has done to bring daily bible reading to millions, I'd appreciate another option with more traditional interpretations, and please no giggle prayer at the start.
This is definitely an idea we have thought about doing and we will pursue it. I agree it would be amazing to have a traditionalist scripture scholar walk through the Bible, bringing out points and angles that one would not get from a mainstream NOM priest (not calling into question Fr. Schmitz's orthodoxy at all BTW).
Another idea, similar to Fr. Schmitz's Catechism in a Year, would be the Catechism of Trent or even the Baltimore Catechism read-through with your expert commentary.
I’m very excited about this! Especially the audiobooks and your study kit. I drive 2 hours per day to take my kids to their Catholic school and would love to listen to your books during my commute…are your books included in the audiobooks? Thank you and pax Christi.
Thanks, Beth. We are working to onboard a bunch of ebooks and audiobooks. It will take time but eventually I hope that many of my books will be there. Already there are some good options and it will only get better.
As a busy mom who consumes books mostly via audiobook these days, I second the excitement over having more of your books available in audio format in the future. Looking forward to exploring the Pelican+ website soon!
I recently switched my paid subscription from your Substack to Pelican+, so now I can still enjoy your content but also everything else Pelican has to offer for the same price, which is a great deal. Just out of curiosity, do you plan to have a smart TV app for Pelican, similar to EWTN? God bless your new endeavor!
At a glance, I'm really excited at the new materials on offer at the new site. I love audio format options for books, rosaries, etc. and I'm hopeful for other beneficial offerings to come out as the service develops (including many of the suggestions in the comments here!).
It'll also be nice to have access to works from multiple other creators for the same subscription price (though I'm considering upping my subscription when I transfer). Praying that Pelican+ gets off to a strong start and continues growing from there!
As a subscriber to T&S I am looking forward to receiving the email to transfer account to Pelican+ and will be upgrading to the premium account. Will we still be able to make comments and ask questions?
Thanks! The comments possibility is something that's being actively discussed. I would want that to be in there. Of course, there are other ways for people to contact me, so it's not like I would be going "offline."
I hope a comments capability will be on there at some point. I do follow you on X but it is so convenient to be able to reply or ask questions at the same place where the articles are read. I am really excited for the Divine Office prayer section. As a novitiate to become a Benedictine oblate it will be great to join in Prime and Compline esp in Latin. I hope and pray that this will be a long and fruitful association.
Excelente iniciativa. Você tem feito um trabalho admirável ao resgatar a tradição católica em tempos de confusão e relativismo dentro e fora da Igreja. O Pelican+ surge como uma verdadeira fortaleza intelectual e espiritual — necessário.
I read the introductory email and signed up as a Founding Member based upon the impressive list of contributors lead by yourself. I applaud what you and your fellow contributors are doing and have been blessed professionally and enjoy supporting fellow Catholics.
I am honestly switching over just because of the Divine Office audio. THANK YOU for this very important resource! I have been wanting something like that for a long time.
Anthony Jones recommended me to you, Dr.K and you have been a blessing ever since! I am an annual subscriber to your Substack and I’ll be looking forward to what lies in the future. Thank you.
I subscribed to the $15/month edition this morning before your email. I do not see your Foundations of Faith in Crisis kit. At least not on the app or mobile. Is it not yet loaded? Or only available on desktop perhaps?
Also, is there an intent to add additional contributors as the app grows?
Yes, we have every intention of increasing contributors. The founding team is just for the launch of it, so that we can get it started and grow the momentum. As something grows, it becomes possible for it to branch out and yield more fruit.
The Foundations of Faith kit and the Kennedy Hall lectures will be loaded into the app by the end of today, I've been told. Since you're a subscriber, they will be unlocked for your access.
YES! Absolutely. I plan on doing all the same things. Even now, my posts at Pelican+ feature the voiceovers (if I did them; as you know, I don't do them for Friday posts).
"I am honored and thrilled to be one of the founding collaborators of Pelican+. In 3 minutes and 45 seconds, I explain why I’ve taken this step, and what you can expect to find there (not sure why it {complete sentence here.}"
This is inevitably what happens when I read something over only twice and not three times! That was the tail end of a phrase that didn't have to be written, as I had figured out the problem by then.
This is an excellent example of the emerging resistance to digital involution. By creating parallel methods for online content distribution, Traditional Catholics can protect their children from the global monoculture. The next phase should be to get Pelican running offline and on Linux.
Can we consider this a form of organic development (of Catholic content presentation)?
Wish there was a smiling face reaction... Yes, indeed!

I just came here to ask for that exact same thing! A Traditional Bible-in-a-Year podcast, please!

Yes, a TV app is in the works, in the coming months. It would have all the streaming content from the platform.
Excellent, I’ll look out for it!

I know there will be a "Community" place on Pelican where authors and readers can discuss things. That much is for sure.
Thanks be to God!
I enrolled on the 7th. How and when will the complimentary packages be delivered?
The Hank you
Coming out today.

May the Lord bless you abundantly for this generous act! I will pray in thanksgiving for you at Mass tomorrow.

Yes, and as I mentioned, we'll keep adding to this department. There's a LOT to do but we've made a good beginning.
I think the team you have assembled has proven their commitment to this work. Absolutely willing to give you all time to get things going.
