What puzzles me about many traditionalist analyses is that they meticulously explain why the hierarchy got everything wrong, yet simply assume jurisdiction survived somewhere else without ever demonstrating it.
The question is not whether there was a crisis.
The question is: by what publicly identifiable principle are Catholics supposed to know who actually possesses lawful mission and authority today?
That seems like the chapter that’s always missing.
